Atelier Experience

Every Kalikas Armour commission begins in conversation.

The client does not have to arrive knowing exactly what they want. Discovering that is part of the process.

The atelier is based in Medway, Kent, within a working studio where design, draping and construction unfold in view. Clients are welcomed into a private fitting space surrounded by archival silhouettes and experimental textiles, a visible record of form, structure and transformation.

A COMMISSION DEVELOPED AROUND YOU

Jatin works directly with each client to understand the occasion, the practical requirements, the desired presence and what the garment needs to communicate. Initial ideas are explored through research, sketches, silhouette studies and fabric before a working design direction is agreed.

From there, the silhouette takes shape through draping, precision cutting, internal structure and corsetry. Surface embellishment and hand-worked detail come later, once the form is right. Multiple fittings continue to refine the design, proportion, movement and balance.

When the work is complete, it should feel instinctive on the body. The structure must give the garment authority, but the wearer still needs to move, breathe and feel like themselves.

BEYOND A SINGLE OCCASION

After the event, the relationship continues. Garments may be reworked, relined or adapted, allowing them to evolve across future seasons and milestones.

Many clients return over time, building private collections of commissioned pieces.

For clients seeking continuity beyond a single commission, the atelier may also develop private capsule and wardrobe projects across several occasions or seasons.

APPOINTMENTS

Kalikas Armour welcomes enquiries from clients across the UK and internationally.

An initial conversation may take place remotely before in-person appointments are arranged.

Consultations, design appointments and fittings may take place at the Medway atelier or, by prior arrangement, at selected locations in London, elsewhere in the UK and overseas.

Any additional travel and location costs are discussed and agreed in advance. Styling and on-site dressing may also be arranged for significant occasions.

PRIVATE AND DELIBERATELY LIMITED

Kalikas Armour undertakes commissions on a deliberately limited basis, allowing each piece the time, attention and technical focus required to become entirely individual.

Once an enquiry has progressed to a booked consultation, clients receive the full Atelier Guide, covering the four-stage process, expected timings, appointments, fittings, styling, aftercare and practical arrangements.

Every commission is personal. Every detail has purpose.
