Cultural Style Week
Couture Mélange (London, May 2024)
Couture Melange fashion show during Cultural Style Week explored personal heritage and ceremonial dressing. The House showcased a collection titled “AmbaKasi as the show’s finale.
A Homage to Jatin’s Grandmothers.” it featured 14 meticulously crafted looks, utilising existing and custom-made pieces for the event. The collection explored themes of identity and belonging, contrasting past and present cultures with new symbolisms for the modern world. Inspired by Jatin’s ancestral journey with immigrant grandparents and parents, and His upbringing in the East Midlands of England, the pieces juxtaposed eclectic opulence with sharp tailoring, embellishment, and draping, adorned with intricate jewellery. Questioning what it means to be British Indian today. Each piece celebrated the power of femininity balanced with fragility and spirituality, creating KA sartorial armour.
The collaboration continued through a later editorial project with FABUK Magazine.
